Film therapists claim that
popular film stories can be used to bridge the gap between
rational analysis of our real-life situations and an imaginative
exploration of the meaning of our experiences.
The Psychologist
A fast paced "real time"
film about a girl a boy, a gangster and solving a problem, with imagined
reality and reality mixed in.
An epic almost from Hollywood,
but once
you get past the awesome but magical special effects, there is a real
and touching story of honour, love, magic, and destiny which is set during the Qing dynasty
( late 19th century). The scenery & landscapes go from luxurious
palaces to the incredible western deserts and
beyond, these alone make this film well worth
seeing.
2001 A SPACE
ODYSSEY
With Stanley
Kubrick's brilliant direction of Arthur C Clarke's
short story "The Sentinel", this film is a
real masterpiece.
It is an amazing
visual experience and depending on your view, a
spiritual masterpiece that has stood the test of
time even though we may not have reached out into
space quite that far just yet. With just 40
minutes of dialogue in a 139-minute film this is
truly a visual treat when coupled with The Planets
soundtrack.
Harold and Maud
Black comedies don't come much
blacker than this cultish favourite from 1972, and they don't come much funnier,
either.
